I had never raised turkeys before getting my first Bourbon Reds in 2010. Their quirky personalities quickly won me over. At this time I would not necessarily consider my Bourbon Reds to be show quality at the open level. They would probably do fine at fairs. While they do have the deep red desired for the variety, their white markings are not perfect. They make wonderful and practical farm birds though. The hens have proven themselves to be excellent layers of large eggs and the toms reach a very good size. I have had excellent fertility on the eggs and a very high hatch rate. Eggs and poults available Spring and early Summer. Juveniles occasionally available mid to late Summer. |
